For Further Research
An Instagram account that I would like to recommend is called ''Za Normalni Holky'' which means for ordinary girls. This account was created four years ago and unfortunately stopped running last year. However, two women created this account in order to excite girls on social media and show photos of realistic bodies with cellulite, stretch marks, eczema or any other dispositions. There is also a podcast about a variety of topics that are linked to body positivity. I recommend listening to the podcast or looking at the Instagram page, as it is all about positivity and different bodies.

Another account on Instagram I like to follow is Celeste Barber. Celeste posts funny photos and videos recreating pictures of celebrities, especially models pose. Her posts on Instagram are usually amusing as she is a comedian, but people became more aware of her due to Instagram. As I already mentioned, she is replicating celebrities' photos to warn about photoshop or how impossible it is to look perfect without any retouching. So if you want to laugh and look at her parodies, you should check it out.

Lastly, one of my favourite models on Instagram is Amy Graham. She is a plus-size model, a mom and an influencer posting very realistic photos of her body and herself in general. She often shows authentic images without makeup or even pictures of her body after giving birth. She aims to show people on social media that it is normal to have stretch marks after being pregnant and to feel beautiful even without makeup, and photos from her model career.

This is a one-of-a-kind and extraordinary way for you to conduct additional research using Instagram accounts. Your audience will be more open to your message. People usually dislike reading articles because it takes time, but if an Instagram account provides insight into the topic of body shaming, it will gain more followers. You stated in the introduction that you are easily swayed and have a negative attitude toward the subject. That is a great point, and it is something that many people have experienced in their lives. I believe that the current events covered in your topic provide an excellent overview of the issues that have arisen. However, I've noticed that your blog is primarily concerned with Europe, and more specifically, the Caucasians. I believe it would have been better if you had also mentioned the other races too.
ReplyDeleteHi, Lia,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these fantastic accounts of women who stay true to themselves! I wonder, however, what was the reason for the girls of Za normalni holky blog to seize posting. I hope it was not their changed stance towards the issue. I find the self-perception topics incredibly valuable for today's society. You and the girls with similar blog themes did a great job. However, do you think it is enough to have these honest profiles around? I mean, I only ever heard about Amy Graham, the other ones used to be an enigma to me. What is another way to raise awareness of the skewered self-perception?
